Ottabah Cuguoano publishes first abolitionist book in English by an African

Ghanian-born freedom fighter Ottabah Cuguoano publishes the first abolitionist book in English by an African man. Entitled Thoughts and Sentiments on the Wicked Traffic of the Slavery and Commerce of the Human Species, it describes his capture and enslavement. He also argues for the end of slavery as many abolitionists campaign only to end the slave trade.
